A woman running on fumes. Kicked out of my mom’s house at fifteen years old after my dad died, I’m no stranger to hard work, picking up extra waitressing shifts at the diner and every odd job I can find on the side for the last ten years. Yet, no matter how hard I work, I can never seem to get ahead—not when I have endless car repairs, doctor’s appointments, and student loans to repay. My fiancé abruptly ending our engagement after a nasty fight and kicking me out as well is just the icing on the cake, and I’m running on fumes…That is until one of my regulars at the diner starts leaving me outrageous tips that I haven’t earned simply by refilling his coffee. Considering all the reasons a handsome and successful older man like him should never have looked twice at me, I’m not sure why he’s taken such a bizarre interest in my well-being…or why he follows me, showing up whenever I need help long before I have the chance to call anyone.A trucker caught up in her whirlwind. As the largest employer in the region and owner of Berenson Trucking, I have the means to take care of the sweet, exhausted waitress whose whirlwind I’ve been inappropriately caught up in since the moment I laid eyes on her. Yet, no matter how much cash I tip her, she refuses to slow down and simply let me take care of her, and it’s not only because I’m over twice her age.Knowing my darlin’ will never truly be mine, I keep my distance, watching her night after night from my truck discreetly parked outside her apartment, never letting on how obsessed I am with her. That is until someone starts targeting us, vandalizing our vehicles and my home, and we find out I’m not the only one watching her from the shadows. No one can protect her better than me.Which I will.Even if I end up going to prison for it. Castaway Whirlwind is the 3rd book in the Big Boys of Berenson Trucking series but can be read as a standalone.
